About the business

Inspired by his own personal journey, Josh set up Engineer a Career to support others looking to get into the profession, creating a dedicated series of podcasts, live and digital events and dedicated social media content that students, parents and educators can utilise.

Engineer a Career works with engineers from across a range of sectors, skillsets, backgrounds and career paths to provide unique insight and guidance to students and those supporting them on their journey. Josh works to ensure that young people from all demographics can be encouraged by the successes and learnings of role models to pursue a career in the industry and ensure they have the tools and knowledge to access suitable pathways that support their journey.

Engineer a Career’s debut podcast series featured guests from SSE, Wood Group, Thales and a former Royal Navy Submariner, attracting a strong following, which Josh has built upon with live events at the University of Dundee and AECOM. With a collection of special podcasts and the second season of his series coming out over the next few months Josh is also working on creating future events with schools, colleges and universities as well as collaborating with engineering companies to host sponsored events.

I’ve had amazing support from Business Gateway. From the very first meeting, Ronnie has shared case studies, connected me with successful start-up founders and industry contacts, and shared grant opportunities. He’s also made me aware of valuable training courses.

From the very first meeting, Ronnie has shared case studies, connected me with successful start-up founders and industry contacts, and shared grant opportunities. He’s also made me aware of valuable training courses organised by Business Gateway.

“His support gave me the confidence to believe in the potential of Engineer a Career. He has challenged my mindset and the way I approach the business, helping me think differently. Every step of the way, the insights and guidance he shared have allowed me to build a stronger foundation for the business and achieve results well above expectation in my first year.”
