This website is run by Business Gateway. We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website. For example, that means you should be able to:

  • zoom in up to 400% without the text spilling off the screen
  • navigate most of the website using a keyboard or speech recognition software
  • listen to most of the website using a screen reader (including the most recent versions of JAWS, NVDA and VoiceOver)

We’ve also made the website text as simple as possible to understand.

AbilityNet has advice on making your device easier to use if you have a disability.

Technical information about this website’s accessibility

Business Gateway is committed to making its website accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.

Compliance status

The website has been tested against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) [2.1 or 2.2] AA standard.

This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.1 AA standard, due to the non-compliances and exemptions listed.

We are working routinely with our website team and application suppliers to address all issues and to fully comply with WCAG 2.1 AA as soon as possible.

Non-accessible content

The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reasons.

-Accessing PDF documents

content on the site is being reviewed and transferred to accessible webpages where possible. This is an ongoing review that will take place throughout 2024.

-Live Chat

This function can be found through tabbing, however as it's a third party tool, options for introducing further accessibility functionality are limited. These are being investigated currently and updates will be made if possible in April 2024.

Content that’s not within the scope of the accessibility regulations

Live video

We do not plan to add captions to live video streams because live video is exempt from meeting the accessibility regulations.

What we’re doing to improve accessibility

We have an accessibility working group that explores options to improve accessibility, including:

  • engaging with third-party providers to ensure the platforms we use are accessible
  • training everyone that publishes to the web in creating accessible content
  • providing guidance to services on creating accessible multimedia content
  • moving away from PDF documents to web pages
  • Running accessibility audits on an annual basis.
