With support from Business Gateway East Dunbartonshire, Shweta Mistry now sells her ethically handmade cushions and prints online at Etsy with a view to supplying retailers in future.

Shweta’s timeless products are created using mineral, earth and alchemical pigments – materials all found in traditional Indian techniques rooted in the 11th Century B.C.

Shweta said: “I graduated with a Master of Research in Creative Practices from Glasgow School of Art where I conducted extensive research into masters of Indian painting and the techniques they used. I began experimenting by printing my original art onto luxury fabrics and I was so pleased with the results that I decided to focus on this area. Now, I use my art to create textiles for home décor, high end interior design and boutique hotels.

“Business Gateway’s practical advice on business development and how to market my business was extremely helpful. I was also signposted to Scottish Enterprise via my Business Gateway adviser in order to receive specialist support.
