Wild Changer: The community-built bag transforming outdoor swimming

Wild Changer is redefining what outdoor swimmers should expect from their kit. Far from “a generic sports bag with a logo on it,” the product is a community built solution to a problem cold water swimmers have quietly tolerated for years: the chaotic, uncomfortable moments after getting out of the water.

Designed for year round use, the Wild Changer combines waterproofing, insulation and generous capacity to handle real swim gear. Its standout feature is the patent pending detachable changing mat which is padded, insulated and engineered with wet and dry zones to keep cold ground at bay. A hidden key pocket ensures essentials stay secure, while the mat can be folded around a hot water bottle in winter to create a warm, comfortable platform for changing.

The bag itself is “properly big,” with space for a winter coat, thick layers, towel, hats and all the extras cold water swimming demands. Multiple pockets keep kit organised, including an insulated drinks pocket for a post swim flask, and a sturdy D ring allows swimmers to clip on a tow float or torch. With backpack straps, a shoulder strap and grab handles, it’s built to carry heavy loads comfortably.

Wild Changer’s early traction has been strong. Its crowdfunder closed at 162 per cent funded, enabling immediate production, and more than 100 orders shipped in the first week after launch. Much of this momentum stems from how the product was created - openly, with input from over 100 wild swimmers who shaped every detail through real world testing.

Founder Lee Walls says development is already underway on a changing poncho to solve the “top half” problem, with plans for family and lightweight versions.  She adds, “I’d like to mention all of the support I've had from Business Gateway Fife with financial support to get my first prototype created, Specialist Business Advice for the website and on-going support from my Business Adviser, Marissa.  Meeting regularly with Marissa provides me with both some accountability and a professional sounding board, her support has been invaluable."

Marissa Yassen-Fleming said, “It’s been a pleasure supporting Lee as she’s grown Wild Changer into such a thoughtful and innovative brand. Her commitment to listening to her community and refining every detail really sets the business apart, and I’ve no doubt she will continue to make a significant impact in the outdoor swimming space.”
