Raith Fruit continues investment after 70 years as a family business

Kirkaldy-based Raith Fruit has marked over 70 years as a trusted supplier of quality fruit and vegetables to Scotland’s catering industry.

Founded in 1952 by Charlie Brady Senior, as a local fruit shop, the business remains proudly family-owned and is now led by second-generation owner Andrew Brady.

Over the decades, Raith Fruit has expanded its product range beyond fruit and vegetables to provide hotels, restaurants, cafés, bars, and workplaces with a comprehensive selection of produce. Despite this growth, the company’s dedication to customer service has remained constant, with daily deliveries and a commitment to sourcing both local and exotic products.

Today, Raith Fruit is investing heavily in innovation and sustainability. Supported by Business Gateway Fife, the company has introduced electric delivery vehicles, AI-driven logistics, and Fresho software to streamline operations. Business Adviser Graeme Currie explained, “The company purchases most of its products from local growers, minimising its food carbon footprint. We were delighted to help secure a Fife Investment Fund grant and a Development Grant for the business which were funded by the UK government through the Shared Prosperity Fund. This enabled the company to maximise the impact of their electric delivery vehicles and the use of AI and software to transform operations.”

Andrew Brady added, “We’re proud to continue the legacy my father started in 1952, while embracing new technology to make our business more efficient and sustainable. Our goal is to serve customers better, reduce our environmental impact, and ensure Raith Fruit remains strong for future generations.”

With strong family values and a forward-looking approach, Raith Fruit continues to build on its legacy, ensuring the business remains resilient and relevant for generations to come.
