About the business

Orkney-based software development company Kyloe Partners has expanded rapidly since launching in 2016 with support from Business Gateway. By acting on their adviser’s business planning advice, owners Stewart Morgan and Raymond Pennie have quickly created a market-leading company.

Kyloe builds software products for SME clients based on the Bullhorn online customer relationship management system. The Kirkwall company has acquired a portfolio of UK and overseas clients, an 18-strong workforce and a second office in London within just two years. Kyloe plans to take on more employees in the UK and also in the USA, to build a presence in the States.

Our Business Gateway adviser’s guidance on graduate recruitment was invaluable. We certainly wouldn’t have been in a position to recruit so early without Business Gateway’s help.

How Business Gateway has helped

Business Gateway Orkney supported Kyloe over the course of 2017, with recruitment and strategic planning in particular.

“We knew from the start how we wanted to develop Kyloe, however, there were some areas where we needed a bit of advice,” Stewart says. “Business Gateway’s expert advice allowed us to implement a long-term business plan.

What’s next?

The team’s long-term goals are to steadily build Kyloe in the USA and help more companies globally to get real value from their Bullhorn investment.

“The business has made a good start and we have worked on projects across the UK, the Netherlands, Australia, the USA and even Iraq,” says Stewart. “We also want to continue our work with local institutions to nurture talent for the future. People are very important to us and we now have a healthy workforce, which we will continue to increase.”
