Grant provides couple with safe harbour from coronavirus

Securing grant funding saved The Shore at Carronshore restaurant and bar from administration and gave business owners, Stephen and Lilian Wallace hope for the future.

Having already had to dip into reserves to tide them through a quiet start to the year, the couple feared for the worst when the country was put into lockdown.

Faced with the same overheads and no customers to help them pay the bills, they felt immediate relief when they checked the criteria and realised they would be eligible for a Scottish Government’s Business Support Fund grant.

Administered by Falkirk Council, the fund offers a range of grant support to help businesses deal with the impact of the COVID-19 outbreak.

Lilian said: “It took us five minutes to complete the application form and within two weeks the grant was paid into our bank account. That allowed us to clear immediate debts and future overheads that we still have to pay even in lockdown. Without the grant support we were in dire straits, and I have no doubt our business would have gone into administration fairly quickly.”
