About the business

Clyde Leather is Scotland’s only suede tannery. Established over 60 years ago, it is the only UK manufacturer of pigmented leathers. They currently supply quality leather to high-end manufacturers and designers across the UK.

Through accessing a wide range of Business Gateway’s services, we were able to accelerate our growth and reinforce our foundations so we can continue operations for many more years. This was achieved through unlocking a grant which was used to purchase vital equipment and attendance at a variety of training workshops that have really empowered our team.

Business Gateway provided a strategic review of operations at Clyde Leather and identified a number of areas where further support would accelerate business growth.

This included organising an International Strategic Workshop to clarify the company’s growth strategy, followed by a review of the company’s structure which improved how the business was organised and identified a number of areas where the team would benefit from training opportunities.

Clyde Leather was also able to access funding through East Renfrewshire Council which allowed the team to purchase vital equipment for their operations and is in a strong position to expand into the global market.
