Founded in 2015 by four Fife mums, the charity has grown from a grassroots initiative into a volunteer-powered operation supporting around 1,000 children and young people across Fife each festive season.
Entirely run by volunteers, including 40 dedicated “Elves” and workplace teams from Lloyds Banking Group, the charity ensures every donation reaches those most in need. With over 60 drop-off points and two Amazon wish lists tailored to underserved age groups and children with additional support needs, the organisation’s reach and precision are unmatched.
Since 2016, the charity has relied on donated warehouse space, first from Velux Co Ltd and then from Fife Group, within Eastfield Industrial Estate, Glenrothes. However, with Velux having sold its remaining warehouse stock and Fife Group unable to offer suitable space this year, the charity faced a critical challenge.
Kate Hope, Principal Trustee, explained, “We have been contacting letting agents and trying to raise awareness via our social media for a space of around 10,000 sq ft and we were delighted that Fife Council stepped in with the offer of a perfect unit for the two months leading up to Christmas. The Economic Development Team kindly put us in touch with the letting agent who then put us in touch with the landlord, who has kindly donated us use of his warehouse space.”
Pamela Stevenson, Service Manager for Economic Development at Fife Council, added, “Gift of Christmas Appeal Fife exemplifies the power of community and we’re proud to support such a dedicated local charity. Their work brings real joy to families across Fife, and we were pleased to help secure the space they needed to continue their incredible efforts.”
Gift of Christmas Appeal Fife 2025 closes for donations at the end of Sunday 7th December, so any support by donating, needs to be quick. This year the charity has received applications for nearly 1,000 children in Fife who, without their support will receive very little, if anything this Christmas. Until they close, they would be very grateful to receive any donations of gifts to any of the 60 plus drop off points across Fife, any cash donations which would be used to purchase pyjamas and 'sensory' gifts, and any donations via their two Amazon Wishlists, delivered directly to the charity at their Gift Registry Address.
This timely intervention ensures that the charity’s mission, to bring dignity and delight to children in need, can continue uninterrupted into its milestone year. More informations is available at https://giftofchristmas.wixsite.com/appealfife or https://www.facebook.com/GiftOfChristmasAppealFIFE
