Burntisland piano school hitting the high notes

Burntisland Piano School, founded and led by Rebecca Campbell, is rapidly becoming one of Fife’s most exciting creative businesses. Rebecca, who lives locally with her husband and young children, began playing piano at the age of eight before going on to complete a Bachelor of Music at Surrey University, graduating with distinction in classical piano performance and composition.

After graduating in 2009, she toured professionally as a pianist and vocalist across the UK and Europe. Since 2017, her focus has shifted to writing and recording cinematic music for film and television placements, while continuing to teach both privately and as a peripatetic tutor in schools.

Burntisland Piano School was created as a nurturing environment where students can flourish through small‑group classes and one‑to‑one tuition. Demand has grown rapidly over the past year, with Rebecca now operating from a peaceful harbour‑front studio and employing three part‑time staff. A waiting list has already formed, reflecting the school’s strong reputation and Rebecca’s commitment to high‑quality music education.

Hannah Morton, Business Gateway Fife Business Adviser, who supported Rebecca early on explained, “It was an absolute pleasure to support Rebecca with her piano school journey. She brought real passion, commitment and a clear vision for what she wanted to build, which made the whole process both productive and inspiring.”

Business Growth Adviser Karen Cassells added that Rebecca is exploring wider opportunities for the space, including workshops, talks and masterclasses in areas such as music production and composition, alongside streamlining systems to support future growth.

Looking ahead, Rebecca is ambitious about what comes next. “My goal is to create a vibrant musical hub for the community,” she said. “I want Burntisland Piano School to be a place where creativity is sparked, confidence is built and people of all ages feel inspired to make music part of their lives.”

Rebecca has just launched a series of summer workshops with the first all aimed at

seven to twelve years. The sessions include K-Pop Melody Makers; Write Your Own Video Game Music; Wayfinders Piano Adventure and Composing the Enchanted World of Enid Blyton. More information on the workshops can be found here.
