About the business

MC² Maths provides online maths tuition designed to help secondary school students improve their understanding, confidence and exam performance. The service focuses primarily on National 5 Maths, offering structured small-group programmes that combine short, pre-recorded lessons, live online sessions, quizzes, homework and personalised feedback through a custom-built student portal.

For me, maths tutoring should be fun, engaging and encouraging. I really love helping students grow in confidence, feel capable and realise that maths isn’t just about numbers, but about problem solving, resilience and learning how to think clearly when questions feel unfamiliar. I’m very grateful to Business Gateway for understanding my vision for MC² Maths and can’t wait to share my passion with more students across Scotland.

How Business Gateway has helped

Mairi worked with Business Gateway in the run up to launching MC² Maths, receiving one-to-one support from a business adviser who provided guidance on applying for various grants. Through the service, Mairi also received specialist support from a graphic designer to create the logo for the business.

Mairi also accessed grant funding support from the Outer Hebrides Business Development Scheme (OHBDS) and the Outer Hebrides Digital Support Scheme (OHDSS), which is funded by the UK Shared Prosperity Fund and delivered by the Comhairle’s Business Gateway team. Through OHDSS, Mairi also accessed specialist digital one-to-one support. The funding helped Mairi purchase digital equipment needed to deliver online tuition and develop digital learning resources.
