About the business
Chris Johnstone, a chartered architect, founded Réalta Architecture last year to provide high-quality architectural services locally. With over 10 years of post-graduate experience, Chris has worked across a diverse range of projects, including domestic, commercial, retail, healthcare and historic buildings. His portfolio also includes challenging projects such as listed buildings and developments within national parks.
As a firm, Réalta Architecture offers a variety of services, including seamless extensions, bespoke new builds, considerate conversions and energy-efficient retrofits. The business is dedicated to delivering functional, robust buildings that respond to their environment while offering a personalised service that puts clients at the centre of every project.
Facing redundancy was daunting, but it gave me the push to create something of my own. With the support and advice from Business Gateway, I was able to turn uncertainty into opportunity and build a business that really reflects my values and expertise.
How Business Gateway has helped
After facing redundancy, Chris realised it was the right time to go it alone and approached Business Gateway for guidance on launching his own firm. Through Business Gateway’s start-up services, he received one-to-one support from business adviser, Lyndsey Phillips, covering business planning, company regulations and marketing strategies.
Chris also received a start-up grant from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, which allowed him to purchase a higher-specification laptop necessary for the software required in his architectural work.
Since its launch, Réalta Architecture has been working on various projects in Dunoon, Campbeltown, Blairmore, Sandbank and the Isle of Bute. The business has also received multiple referrals, setting the business on a path of steady growth.
Chris Johnstone, owner, Réalta Architecture Ltd, said: “Facing redundancy was daunting, but it gave me the push to create something of my own. With the support and advice from Business Gateway, I was able to turn uncertainty into opportunity and build a business that really reflects my values and expertise.”
