This is aimed at helping small rural tourism businesses to develop in a sustainable way whilst at the same time generating local community benefit. The grant available is 50 percent of eligible development costs (up to a maximum of £10,000) towards capital purchase. The grant can also be used on business development costs that promote the sustainability of the operation or area.
Community benefit must be delivered as part of the business development and must be measurable and evidenced through a local community organisation. You must provide a business plan with your application. More information is available on the Forth Valley and lomond LEADER website.
East of Scotland Investment Fund (ESIF)
Falkirk and Stirling Councils are part of a consortium of ten local authorities in the East of Scotland who have joined together to create ESIF. The fund offers loans of up to £50,000 to new and growing, small and medium-sized businesses. The aim of ESIF is to ensure that good commercially-viable proposals do not fail from a lack of access to finance. Falkirk Business Panel
Its aim is to enable all businesses both large and small to work collectively to create a strong, business-focused environment for the benefit of the local and regional economy. Core objectives are to improve communications between businesses across the sectors, raise the profile of the business community both within and outside their areas, and to engage the business community in the economic regeneration activities taking place.
All businesses in the Falkirk area are eligible to receive regular e-zines. They will also be invited to participate proactively in key business events taking place throughout the year. You can find more business support information on the Falkirk Council website.
New Start-Up Loan for Individuals Starting a Business
Business Gateway Falkirk Council is working in partnership with Start Up Finance Scotland to offer support to individuals looking to start a new business and provide funding in the form of a start-up loan. Loan recipients will work our advisers to ensure that they can make their business a success.
Every loan application is considered according to the needs of your business, with an average loan size of around £6,000. The final loan size will be determined by your business plan. Only one Start Up Loan can be granted per person, however more than one person in a business can be eligible for a loan.
You are required to pay back the loan within 1-5 years, however the exact term of the loan will be agreed with your Loan Adviser as part of your application process.
The Start Up Loan is not a grant. A grant is a non-repayable fund provided by an individual or an organisation for a particular purpose, often awarded to non-profit entities as well as business. However, a Start Up Loan must be repaid in full with a 6% interest rate.
- Anyone above the age of 18 at the time of application and living in Scotland is eligible for a loan, providing they have a business idea and want to use the loan for setting up their own business.
- You may have already started your business but you cannot have been trading for more than 12 months.
- You must have the legal right to remain in Scotland for the duration of your loan term and the right to be self-employed.
For more information on the above loan, please contact Business Gateway Falkirk Council on 01324 590960 or email email@example.com
