Tayside's Business Gateway Advisers have a wealth of expertise and knowledge to contribute to your new or growing business. They thrive on helping you to overcome hurdles and achieve success and are only a phone call or email away.

Many of our Advisers bring with them industry sector professional qualifications in addition to experience. Many will have previously run their own businesses. All will ensure that the advice they provide to you will be impartial, confidential and tailored to help you and your business develop to its fullest potential.

Ann-kerr-small

Ann Kerr

Business Adviser

Ann’s previous experience includes roles with Lloyds Asset Finance, GE Commercial and HSBC Bank, working with a wide and varied business customer portfolio throughout Scotland.

A native of Dundee Ann is an avid football fan supporting one of the BIG TWO in Dundee and a devotee of Andy Murray.

Margaret Clark

Margaret is first point of contact when you get in touch with Business Gateway Dundee. Margaret has a varied role which entails working on reception, processing business start-up referrals, setting up for meetings and workshops along with overseeing any maintenance required. 

Margaret’s previous experience includes roles within the Welfare to Work and Voluntary sector therefore she has a good understanding of additional support available for clients.

Donna Williamson

Donna, is our second Angus adviser, and like Mike, she also lives in Angus and has an excellent knowledge of the region. This 'insider' Angus knowledge enables Donna to offer Angus businesses locally tailored advice.

Donna is the longest-serving member of the Tayside Team, and has been with us for 21 years. She has built up a great deal of experience regarding the key elements of starting and running a successful business.

Mike Hamilton

Mike is one of our two advisers dedicated to the Angus region. Mike's previous experience also includes roles with RBS working with a wide portfolio of businesses, as well as with Dundee City Council where Mike offered business support from our Business Gateway Dundee office, before joining us directly in early 2013.

Living in Angus, Mike has excellent experience of the region and all the issues businesses face there.

Bob Morrison

Bob has been with us since 2005. Prior to this, Bob built 37 years of experience with the Royal bank of Scotland, reaching the position of Bank Manager. Following a restructuring of the bank, Bob then held a position as Business Manager, looking after a portfolio of over 400 businesses of all sizes.

Bob is an Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Bankers in Scotland (A.C.I.B.S.), and has a particular specialisation in finance.

Bob is both a keen golf and football fan, and even played for Dunfermline Athletic in his younger years!

Leigh Hunt

HR Adviser

Leigh has been part of the Business Gateway team in Tayside since January 2014. An experienced and accredited HR Adviser who also has direct experience of owning and running her own business, she delivers a number of workshops to start up and established businesses. In addition, if you have an questions perhaps relating to taking on your first employee or any legislative obligations to be aware of as an employer Leigh is the person to speak to! She'll also provide assistance connecting you to other organisations that can help the development of your workforce such as Skills Development Scotland.

Lynn MacCabe

Team Leader

If your business will be (or already is) situated in the IT sector, then chances are Lynn will be the adviser for you.

Lynn took up the role of Business Adviser in 2007, having previously been with us for a number of years in the role of Ecommerce Adviser. It was working in this role where she developed considerable experience of the issues faced by new and growing businesses, allowing her to take this understanding and experience to the role of Business Adviser.

Prior to joining us, Lynn was a director within an IT company, able to offer her specialist IT knowledge and experience to her clients.

Lynn's primary remit is looking after Start Up and Higher Value start businesses. She also has a small portfolio of Growth companies. Lynn also has an interest in working with young games companies.

Nicki Mearns

Tayside Manager

Nicki looks after Tayside Business Gateway operations ensuring that Advisers are able to provide the best support to the regions new and growing businesses. Nicki has worked across many of the Business Gateway service areas herself including information provision, training and business advice.

Sarah-mcaninch-small

Sarah McAninch

Also based in our Perth office, Sarah is another one of our long-serving advisers, and also boasts a varied portfolio of businesses across Perth & Kinross.

Like Lynn, Sarah was part our E-Commerce team prior to joining the Team as an adviser in 2007. Sarah brings with her skills and knowledge she can share with colleagues and clients.

Andrew Webster

Based in our Perth office, Andrew is one of three advisers dedicated to the Perth & Kinross region. Andrew worked with us many years ago before joining the Perth and Kinross Council Economic Development Team, returning to Business Gateway mid-2013. Andrew has therefore built up a vast amount of experience working with businesses, and he is also partial to a good quiz!
