Health and Safety law: general duties of employers regarding health and safety, health and safety policies and definitions of ‘hazard’, ‘risk’, ‘safe’ and ‘competent person’.

  • The working environment: Workplace Regulations and Safety Sign Legislation
  • Risk assessments: identifying hazards and risks and conducting and reviewing your risk assessment
  • Occupational health: work-related ill health and steps to prevent it and controlling hazards associated with work-related ill health
  • Accidents and emergencies: factors which can cause accidents to happen, the importance of recording accidents and near miss accidents, reporting of injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations (RIDDOR) and Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations
