East Dunbartonshire occupational therapist puts the wow into weekdays

An occupational therapist who aims to enhance the physical and mental health and wellbeing of older people in her local community is offering fun and adventurous day time activities through her new venture.

With support from Business Gateway East Dunbartonshire, Pasna Sallis has set up Weekday Wow Factor, providing leisure events such as a weekly disco - the first of its kind in nightclub - trampolining, canoeing, ten pin bowling and speed boating.

Pasna said: “I realised during my career as an occupational therapist with the NHS that there were a lot of people who were unable to access mainstream leisure facilities. Activities such as dancing and being outdoors has a positive effect on the physical, mental and social health and wellbeing of older people and I wanted to make them more accessible. Since the launch of the business, it’s gone from strength to strength with the numbers of people coming along increasing every week.

“Business Gateway gave me support and practical help when it came to business development and promotional strategy. I also received training on how to use social media, particularly Facebook effectively. Business Gateway’s social media advice has given my business a big boost.”

How we helped Pasna:
