A life coach who became her own boss in 2015 is now looking to expand as she enters her third year in business.
Susan Hoy gave up her job in the weight loss industry to focus on her own venture, Susan Hoy Coaching, combining her skills, experience and qualifications in Neuro Linguistic Programming, to offer life coaching, hypnotherapy and personal development. Working closely with her customers Susan supports people needing help with stress, anxiety, phobias, grief, self-esteem, career changes and more.
With support from Business Gateway Argyll and Bute, Susan is now looking to grow her business geographically and expand on the workshops she has already delivered to create a monthly event focusing on different themes.
Susan said: “I came to a point in my career where I wanted to follow my own values and focus on the things that fulfilled me the most. I went on a life coaching course in early 2015 which convinced me that leaving my job was the right thing to do so later that year I set up my own business. Initially I thought weight loss would be the most popular subject, but the business has organically evolved and I’m now dealing with a variety of issues and clients.
“Business Gateway have been brilliant ever since I first met with the experts there. I’ve gone on a raft of workshops which they offer locally, learning about social media and marketing. To be able to access such fantastic help and encouragement for free has been invaluable.”
Susan’s goal for this year is to introduce monthly workshops on different topics whilst increasing her reach to other parts of Argyllshire then beyond, either in person or via Skype.
She added: “My aim for 2018 is to build my website, deliver monthly workshops and begin taking on clients from across the central belt. Already I’ve used Skype to hold sessions with customers in rural areas which is something I would like to continue doing. The feedback I’ve received so far has been great and I’m really enjoying meeting and helping people. Becoming my own boss is one of the best things I’ve ever done.”
Barbara Halliday of Business Gateway said: “We ensure that our calendar of fully funded workshops concentrate of those issues that directly affect local business owners. Our events cover a wide range of subjects and attendees not only learn important information but are able to meet with like-minded individuals and come away feeling confident to take their venture forward.”
